Whats On Your Work Wednesday 138....Ribbons!

Hi Blog hoppers of What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday! Today I will mostly be sorting out Ribbons....lots of Ribbons, not just what you see here....I have bags & bags & bags of them. Just plain old chucked in, not sorted or anything! So today is the day they start to get sorted out.

Have a few ideas of what I am going to do for a storage idea, most of my ribbon is bought in lengths from a local market. They have loads of choice and nearly ever week I visit the stall I end up with at least 3 or 4 different styles of of few meters of each. I only buy reels of ribbons if that's all I can get in what I want, which is not often. The latest ones are those organza rose ribbons that are pretty, however they cost £2.50 a meter, bit pricey but couldn't resist!

The bag of vintage lace was purchased in France last October while I was visiting Carccassone. I got the bag for 10Euro after a bit of a haggle with a very abrupt & slightly drunk Frenchman, it was after all 2pm and the entire population of France, including me at the time had just come back form a 2hour lunch that had been all washed down with the obligatory 1 litre of wine! Hence my gusto to haggle, anyway I got it down from 17 Euro, which I thought was quite good! I need to sort it out and wrap it around some card & store it well, there is some really old pretty pieces in it.

Thanks to everyone who visited me me last week on my first week back after short blog sabbatical. I had some lovely comments that really lifted me :) lovely!
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day & thanks for stopping by!

ribbons are a pain IMHO but they are a necessity, I hang some up and some are in rolls and some are in baggies

Ooh, I'm a huge fan of ribbons. I've got mine sorted in plastic bags by colors and color schemes. I feel like a girl can never have enough ribbons!

Howdy Lavinia,
Happy New Year!

I'm back at WOYWW after being MIA since November.

Love your ribbon stash!
Recently I've begun a love affair with ribbon. But I stopped storing ribbon spools - trying to figure out how to store ribbon drove me crazy. So now when I buy ribbon, I immediately cut it up into 6-8" strips. Then I store the strips in large ziplock bags by collor family - warm, cool, Neutral (back, white, gold, silver). Store the baggies in a vintage purse with huge sections!

Would love for you to visit my blog when you have a moment or 2.

Peace,
LuLu

Wow all that super ribbon it 'needs' to be on show, to give you and us inspiration to use ribbon hehe (hardly ever use ribbon on my cards not sure how to truth be told!) Have a great week hope the sorting out doesn't take you too long, if your anything like me you will sit admiring it far longer than actually sorting it Lou #82

Gosh I thought I was addicted but you have a serious ribbon stash there! My small bits are in pretty jars but the longer bits are wrapped around card and laid in a drawer. Have fun sorting!

I visited someone else's desk who sorted ribbon recently. She used a hang over the door shoe bag. She cuts lengths of chipboard to fit each shoe pocket and wound the ribbon around the chipboard. Each pocket held two chipboard pieces. I don't know if that would work for you. I sort random lengths of ribbon and put them into little baggie. All little baggies of the same color go into a bigger bag and I have a tin to keep all my bags of baggies in. I don't have that much though. You definitely use it more when it is nicely sorted though! It is worth the effort.

Hi there Lavinia,

I'm slowly making my way around to see everyone's workdesks. I've had my own thought about ribbons. Mine are neatly on spools and stored in a tin, but I have this urge to unspool them and put all my ribbons in a large glass jar. It think it would be so wonderful to see all the colors mingled together. Who knows, it might give me an idea for new color combinations. I have ribbon envy, I'm afraid!

I posted my Liebster Award today (thank you again!!! - very sweet) and there is a link back to you. I am tickled pink that you thought of me for this!!

Now Lavinia, you know that I like a good story, but girl, if it only takes you one day to get this lot sorted, I'll eat my iPad. I think my collection of ribbon took me 3 evenings or more and I have a fraction of the amount. I understand about htheorganza rose ribbon, I have a couple of metres myself..irresistible!

Thank you for your comment ;). No, sadly I hardly ever use my Slice...:( Somehow I find it takes ages to cut stuff on it and I also seem to waste a lot of paper :(((. I'm much more into die cutting on my Cuttlebug, which is a shame really, as I invested a fortune in the machine and different design cards :((.

Maybe we should start challenging each other to use it? :) Have a lovely weekend!

Hugs
